Concrete Canvas
Located in Bangalore, this 6,000 sqft residence masterfully blends modernity and minimalism. The client, a mechanical engineer, desired an industrial and rustic look with a private garden. The L-shaped residence features a parametric brick façade, concrete construction, and metal accents.
The parametric brick façade breaks the monotony of the design while responding to climatology. Concrete construction reduces noise pollution from frequent airplane flyovers, while metal accents add a strong industrial character. The interiors remain minimalistic, enhanced with distinctive elements such as seven horses engraved into a concrete wall and traditional motifs in the bedrooms.
A dramatic 20-foot indoor tree paired with a Buddha statue creates a serene focal point within the home. The skylight’s Venturi effect enhances natural ventilation and amplifies the calm atmosphere. The lawn area is thoughtfully designed using grass pavers to harmonize architecture with nature.
Design & Sustainability Approach
Sustainable architectural strategies include narrow slit openings to limit harsh sunlight and a predominantly concrete structure to minimize noise pollution. These elements help maintain a naturally cooler interior environment while reducing energy consumption.
The result is a home that balances functionality, sustainability, and aesthetics—setting a new benchmark for modern living through thoughtful material use, natural integration, and serene design.
